For the seventh consecutive year, the Muslim Council of Britain will be sending a delegation of leading professionals, thought leaders and community representatives to the World Islamic Economic Forum (the WIEF) to be held in Kazakhstan in June 2011. The theme of the forum will be Globalizing Growth: Connect, Compete, Collaborate.
“The MCB organises the largest non-OIC delegation to the WIEF and we look forward to building on our successes at previous conferences with our delegation to Kazakhstan in 2011” noted Sir Iqbal Sacranie, leader of the MCB delegation and member of the International Advisory Panel of the WIEF Foundation.
The WIEF is an annual conference attended by government leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers and academics and acts as an international business platform where the business sectors of the Muslim world meet. The 7th WIEF will be the first time that it is held in Central Asia. Kazakhstan is the ninth largest country in the world and by 2015, it will join the top 10 oil exporting countries. It was ranked as the most improved economy in the World Bank’s “Doing Business 2011” report.
“The delegations organised by the MCB are an important effort to forge trade links and share strategies”, said Farooq Murad, Secretary General of the MCB. “Our seventh consecutive delegation year demonstrates our commitment to share our experiences and successes in areas such as Islamic finance and represent Britain in international trade.”
Applications to join the delegation, and more details regarding the past achievements and future objectives of the MCB’s delegation, are available from the MCB’s website. Please visit www.mcb.org.uk/WIEF
