The Muslim Council of Britain is inviting applications from Muslims interested in free training as Spiritual Care-Givers (Chaplains) with a view to taking it up as a profession.
Following a three-year long negotiation under the auspices of the Multi-Faith Joint Consultation on Hospital Chaplaincy, of which the MCB is a member, it is now likely that the government will recommend to NHS Trusts to recruit paid Chaplains from all faith communities if they have a substantial number of patients in their hospitals. However, the MCB can only recommend people who have undergone necessary training in different aspects of Chaplaincy.
The Department of Health has awarded a small grant to Multi-Faith Joint National Consultation to arrange such training courses for interested people from minority Faith Communities. Accordingly, I non-residential course and 3 two-day residential courses have been organised. The schedule will be as below. Please note that the definite dates and venues will be confirmed nearer the time. Muslim men and women may request application forms to register from the MCB office. There are only limited places available, therefore a first-come first-served policy will be employed. There are no fees for attendance, however, any contribution towards MCB’s administrative costs will be gratefully accepted.
Please indicate which time and venue would be suitable for you.
