Muslim Women In The Workplace

15 Mar 2007

Responding to today’s publication of the new report ‘Moving on Up: Ethnic Minority Women at Work’, by the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Muslim Council of Britain notes that the findings confirm that black and Asian women are missing from 3 out of 10 workplaces in areas of England with significant ethnic minority populations.

‘It is clear that a fundamental cultural shift is needed amongst minority communities, but mainly in workplaces and in public policy making, so that we make better use of the skills and talents of Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Black Caribbean women,” said Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain.
