MCB Welcomes Appointment of First British Muslim Envoy

The Muslim Council of Britain heartily welcomes the appointment of Mr Anwar Chaudhary as the first British Muslim High Commissioner to Bangladesh. The MCB wishes him every success in promoting a more cordial and constructive relationship with what is the third largest Muslim republic in the world.

MCB Secretary General, Iqbal Sacranie has said: “We had indeed been expecting such an appointment and are pleased that the process of involving British Muslim in the foreign policy mechanism has begun. We expect the process  to go forward from here and that we are soon able to overcome present difficulties in our relations with the Muslim world. Whatever its faults and failures, the MCB have always believed that the 1.5 billion Muslim people across the globe can and should be our close partners in all fields of international relations.”
