Press ReleaseMCB Condemns Bombing of Holy Shrine in Iraq
The Muslim Council of Britain utterly condemns the hideous bombing of one of the holiest Muslim shrines, the Mosque of Imam Ali al Hadi in Samarra today and calls for an immediate end to the escalating spiral of sectarian violence in Iraq.
`These senseless acts of destruction and the recent killings and counter-killings constitute a criminal waste of human life and a callous disregard for God’s greatest gift to man. We urge the brave Iraqi people and their wise leadership to unite their ranks in order to defeat all such evil provocations that seem aimed at inciting a bloody internecine conflict and destroying a great country as well as destabilising the whole region. What hurts Iraq and Iraqi people hurts the entire Ummah,’ said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain.[Ends]
