British Muslims Visit Spanish Ambassador To Express Condolence

16 Mar 2004

A delegation from the Muslim Council of Britain visited the Spanish Ambassador to the UK, the Marques de Tamaron, this morning.

“We conveyed our deepest sympathy for the people of Spain in the wake of last week’s mass slaughter of innocent civilians by terrorists in Madrid. The hearts of Muslims and all peoples of conscience go out to the families of those whose loved ones were murdered and those who have been wounded in these appalling atrocities,” said Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the MCB.

Following the talks with the Spanish Ambassador, the delegation signed the Book of Condolence for the victims of last week’s bombings.

The delegation of British Muslims also included Sabah al-Mukhtar (Chairman of the MCB’s Europe & International Affairs committee), Sara Khan (President of the MCB affiliate, the Young Muslim Sisters), Muhammad Sawalha (of the MCB affiliate, the Muslim Association of Britain) and Ahmed Versi (editor of the Muslim News).
